Participants drive themselves throughout the week. The rental agreement and payment are made directly with the rental company and are not part of the camp package.
Please budget approximately €170–250 per person, based on a shared rental car (including fuel).
-
To streamline communication, we'll set up a WhatsApp group before the camp. This is where we'll coordinate flight arrivals, organize the shared rental cars, answer any last-minute questions, and help you connect with your fellow participants and guides before your adventure in the Lyngen Alps begins.
Saturday, 10th April 2027 – Arrival at Tromsø Airport
Please arrive at Tromsø Airport by 3:30 PM at the latest.
Sandra and her team will meet you at the airport. Once everyone has arrived, we'll organize the shared rental cars and head to our cabins in Nord-Lenangen. The drive takes approximately 2–3 hours depending on road and weather conditions.
After arriving in Nord-Lenangen, we'll settle into our cabins, get to know each other during our welcome meeting, and enjoy our first dinner together at the restaurant next to the cabins.
Sunday, 11th – Friday, 16th April 2027 – Ski Touring in the Lyngen Alps
Sandra and her team will guide you on 5 out of 6 days, in small groups of 4–6 women per certified ski guide.
One day is left open to explore Tromsø, unwind at the cabin, go for a workout, or simply relax.
Our daily ski touring plans will always be based on the weather, snow and avalanche conditions to make the most of each day in the mountains.
At the beginning of the week, we'll hold an avalanche safety workshop and refresh the basics of companion rescue. Throughout the week, there will also be plenty of time to share experiences, exchange knowledge, and simply enjoy being in the mountains together.
Breakfast and dinner are served at the restaurant next to our cabins. Each morning, you can prepare your own lunch from the breakfast buffet to take with you into the mountains.
Saturday, 17th April 2027 – Departure
After breakfast in Nord-Lenangen, we'll head back to Tromsø Airport in our shared rental cars.
Please book your return flight no earlier than 11:30 AM to allow enough time for the drive from our accommodation to the airport.
The program may be adapted at any time due to weather, snow and avalanche conditions.

If you're passionate about ski touring and excited to explore the incredible Lyngen Alps on skis, we'd love to have you join us.
Please make sure you're physically and mentally prepared for daily ascents of 1,000–1,500 vertical meters on touring skis throughout the week. You should also feel confident skiing off-piste in a variety of snow conditions—because Norway has it all: from powder to breakable crust, from perfect corn to icy slopes.
Your kick turns on the acent don't have to be perfect at all, but they shouldn't be completely new to you either. 😉
We'll always look for the best conditions. But we don't control them. The weather, the snow and the mountains decide. That means you should be comfortable adapting to whatever conditions we find—both in the terrain and under your skis.
The cabins are the perfect place to recover after a big day in the mountains. But the focus of this week is simple: ski touring in one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the world. Climbing peak after peak, earning every turn, and skiing all the way back towards the ocean. Every day is different—and that's exactly what makes Lyngen so special.
This camp is built around a shared experience. Our guides are responsible for making safe decisions and bringing everyone home safely. That only works if the group can move together and enjoy the mountains at a similar pace.
If it becomes apparent during the week that your physical fitness, skiing ability or mental preparedness don't match the requirements of the program, we unfortunately can't guarantee alternative guiding or a separate program on the following days.
So please be honest with yourself when signing up. It's the best way to make sure this week is a great experience—not only for you, but for the whole group.

THE LYNGEN ALPS
The Lyngen Alps, located in Northern Norway, are a prominent mountain range situated approximately 100 kilometers east of Tromsø. This region is renowned for its striking peaks that rise sharply from the surrounding fjords, creating a dramatic and varied landscape ideal for ski touring.
The Lyngen Alps offer a wide range of terrain, from steep ascents to more moderate routes, catering to various skill levels. The proximity to the Arctic Ocean contributes to reliable snow conditions and unique touring opportunities. With its combination of challenging climbs, breathtaking views, and accessible backcountry, the Lyngen Alps are a notable destination for those seeking both adventure and scenic beauty in their ski touring experience.
Please Note: Nord-Lenangen, where our cabins are located, is situated in the far northern part of the Lyngen Alps. Due to its remote location, there are no shopping facilities within walking distance. Supplies in Norway can be costly and require careful planning. Of course we are happy to assist with any emergency requests.
-
For our #shadesofwinter ski touring adventure in the Lyngen Alps, you'll basically need the standard equipment you'd use for any alpine tour: skis, skins, avalanche emergency equipment, ski crampons, and all the essentials for ski touring.
Given that we're heading far north, please keep in mind that even though it's April, temperatures can be extremely cold, especially with the wind in the higher alpine areas. Be sure to pack extra layers to stay warm, including a small, packable down liner or puffy jacket, warm gloves and additional layers.
Proper preparation will ensure you stay comfortable and enjoy your time in the Lyngen Alps.
SKI TOURING EQUIPMENT
ski touring skis (we recommend ski touring skis with 80-98mm under foot) with touring binding
suitable skins and ski crampons for your skis (please make sure they fit your skis)
ski touring boots and suitable ski boot crampons! (please pre-check the fit at home)
ski touring poles (big powder baskets and adjustable in length)

ski touring backpack (around 30 liters) with options to mount the skis for short boot-packs. Avalanche airbags are highly recommended but not mandatory.
Ideally you can also easily mount your helmet on the backpack on the way up;
Shovel, probe, avalanche transceiver with NEW batteries (please check at home!)
bivouac bag
1x light glacier harness
1x locking carabiner (screw-lock or ball-lock or similar system) or two !! classic screw carabiners)
1× 120cm sling (Bandschlinge)
Sunglasses, sunscreen, bandana, beanies, thin and thick gloves…
Insulated water bottle (thermos), lunch box
maybe some energy bars
OTHER
Personal items and clothes for the mountains and the cabins

Please ensure you're well-prepared to make the most of your time in the mountains!

RESPONSIBILITY & SAFETY
Ski touring and freeriding are incredible ways to experience the mountains—but like all mountain sports, they come with inherent risks. No outdoor activity is entirely risk-free, and every participant should be aware of and comfortable with these risks before joining the camp.
Your guides will carefully assess the conditions each day, make conservative decisions, and provide clear instructions throughout the week. Following their guidance at all times is essential.
At the same time, every participant is responsible for their own actions and decisions in the mountains. By joining the camp, you acknowledge the inherent risks of ski touring and freeriding and accept personal responsibility for your own safety.
To participate, you must be in good health and physically prepared for the demands of the program. You are also required to have valid health, accident and liability insurance covering ski touring and freeriding in Norway.
We also strongly recommend taking out travel insurance to protect yourself in case you are unable to attend the camp.
OUR AVALANCHE SAFETY WORKSHOP
Avalanche awareness is an essential part of every #shadesofwinter ski touring camp.
At the beginning of the week, we'll refresh the fundamentals together—from understanding avalanche bulletins and terrain assessment to the correct use of avalanche safety equipment, including beacon, shovel and probe.
We'll also practise companion rescue scenarios to build confidence and improve your emergency response skills.
Whether this is your first avalanche workshop or you've attended many before, there is always something new to learn. We believe that sharing knowledge and continuously improving our skills helps make all of us safer in the mountains.
