MOUNTAIN MIND CAMP
Hiking some of the most beautiful alpine trails in Gastein Valley. The Hofgasteinerhaus at almost 2,000 m as our basecamp. Summit views that stay with you. New friendships formed on the trail. A chance to clear your head, recharge, and reconnect with your strengths. That’s what the #shadesofwinter MOUNTAIN MIND Camp is all about.
At the core of this camp: daily hikes to the peaks above Schlossalm – moving at your pace, with time to breathe, challenge yourself, and enjoy the mountains.
We round it out with yoga, stretching and breathwork – tools to recover, refocus, and build your Mountain Mind. Outside. In the mountains. With other women.
The camp is guided and coached by Claudia Kohler, certified hiking guide, and Sandra Lahnsteiner-Wagner, founder of Shades of Winter. Both know how the mountains build not just physical strength – but clarity, confidence, and calm. And how good that feels.
Sandra’s experience as an athlete and certified mental coach shapes the spirit of this camp – just like her passion for real connection: with yourself, with nature, with other women. That’s the #shadesofwinter DNA.

ARRIVE. ASCEND. RESET.
Friday, August 1, 2025
We meet at 11:30 AM at the base station of the Schlossalmbahn in Bad Hofgastein. The gondola takes us straight up to over 2,000 m – and from there, we start our first hike.Because there’s no better way to connect – with yourself and with others – than out on the trail. We believe movement is the best way to kick off a weekend like this.
That first summit feeling, high above Gastein Valley. Then we make our way to the Hofgasteinerhaus at 1,950 m – our home for the next two days.
MOUNTAIN MIND ABOVE 2,000 M
Saturday, August 2, 2025
After a solid breakfast, we head out on our full-day hike – destination: one of the peaks above the Schlossalm area. But the summit is not the only goal – your Mountain Mind is.
How you find your rhythm. How you take on a challenge. How you grow beyond what you thought was possible. Connected to nature. Carried by the energy of the group. Step by step, at your own speed. On the way back to the hut, there's time to cool off in the Schlossalm lake, try the motor skills park for a bit of a playful challenge – or simply soak up the sun with a coffee and cake.
We end the day with a sunset yoga session – outdoors, surrounded by mountains, to let everything you've experienced settle in.
MORE MOUNTAINS. MORE IN THE MOMENT.
Sunday, August 3, 2025
On our final day, we head out for a panoramic loop – a hike high above Gastein Valley, offering new views and fresh perspectives.
Movement is at the center, the gaze opens – outward, and maybe inward too. We’re in the moment. We notice what the last days have shifted. The mind feels clear. The thoughts feel light. The body feels awake.
The camp ends at 4:30 PM at the mid-station of the Schlossalmbahn. From there, we ride back down to the Gastein valley – with tired legs, new energy, and maybe a fresh idea in your pack.
Note: The program may be adjusted based on weather, group dynamics, and trail conditions. In case of bad weather, we’ll use the seminar room at the Hofgasteinerhaus for extended yoga sessions, workshops, or indoor reflections.

WHO THIS CAMP IS FOR?
The #shadesofwinter MOUNTAIN MIND Camp is for women who love exploring beautiful alpine trails – where summits aren’t about pressure, but power. It’s for anyone who wants to clear their head, recharge in nature, and strengthen their Mountain Mindset.
Depending on the day and route, we’ll cover between 400 and 1,200 vertical meters per day. On arrival day, it’s a more relaxed 400 m, on most other days around 700–800 m, and once up to 1,200 m – always at a mindful, steady pace, adapted to the group and conditions.
This is not a bootcamp – it’s an outdoor experience for women who enjoy hiking, fresh air, and shared adventure. You don’t need alpine experience – but…
You should bring surefootedness on narrow mountain trails, basic fitness for 4–6 hours of hiking per day, and a genuine joy for moving through the mountains.

SANDRA
"After many winter camps in Gastein Valley, I’m especially excited to host the MOUNTAIN MIND Camp at the Hofgasteinerhaus. Sharing some of my favorite summer trails with other women means a lot to me.
Having the right mindset in the mountains is key – not just for a safe, successful day outdoors, but also for how we approach challenges in life. Our attitude shapes how we handle what’s ahead.
Mountain Mind, to me, means taking a deep breath, letting go, and refocusing. Whenever I need clarity or energy, I head into the mountains – and return with new ideas and a clearer view. That’s my Mountain Mind."
Sandra Lahnsteiner-Wagner is the founder of Shades of Winter. A trained sport scientist, certified mental coach, ski instructor, ski guide, and ski coach (Level C), she feels most at home in the mountains – whether in winter or summer. Off the slopes, she finds freedom in water: wingfoiling, windsurfing, and sailing keep this Gastein local grounded and inspired in every season.
